Introduction

Tisseur de Noms est un outil conçu pour vous aider à générer des noms de fantaisie uniques et évocateurs pour vos histoires, jeux, personnages, et plus encore. Il utilise un puissant moteur de motifs qui permet à la fois une génération simple basée sur des préréglages et une création de motifs personnalisés complexe.

Getting Started: The Interface

The main Name Weaver interface is designed for ease of use. Here’s a quick overview:

1. Generation Mode Tabs

At the top, you'll find two tabs:

Use Presets: Choose from a list of predefined styles for quick name generation (e.g., Elvish, Orcish).
Custom Pattern: Enter your own pattern string to have fine-grained control over the name structure.

2. Preset Selection (in 'Use Presets' tab)

If you select the 'Use Presets' tab, a dropdown menu will appear. Click it to see a list of available preset styles like "Elvish - Short & Catchy", "Orcish - Strong & Guttural", etc. Select the one that fits your needs.

3. Custom Pattern Input (in 'Custom Pattern' tab)

In the 'Custom Pattern' tab, you'll find a textarea where you can type your desired pattern (e.g., sV'i or Bv(lar)). Below this, there's a "Quick Pattern Syntax" accordion. Expand it for a brief reminder of common symbols. For a full explanation, please refer to our Patterns & Presets Guide.

4. Number of Names

Below the tabs, there's an input field where you can specify how many names you want to generate at once (from 1 to 100). You can type a number or use the quick selection buttons (5, 10, 20, etc.) for convenience.

5. Generate Button

Once you've selected a preset or entered a custom pattern and chosen the number of names, click the prominent "Craft Your Name(s)" button.

6. Results Area

The generated names will appear in the area below the generate button. If no names could be generated (e.g., due to a very restrictive or invalid pattern), a message will inform you.

7. Export Options

If names are successfully generated, three buttons will appear above the results:

Copy All: Copies all generated names to your clipboard, separated by newlines.
Export .txt: Downloads a text file containing all generated names.
Export .csv: Downloads a CSV file, useful for spreadsheets.

Utilisation des Préréglages

Click the "Craft Your Name(s)" button.

Erreurs de Motif

If your custom pattern is invalid or too restrictive (e.g., asking for too many consonants together without vowels), Name Weaver might not be able to generate names, or it might produce unexpected results. If you encounter issues, try simplifying your pattern or refer to the examples in the Patterns & Presets Guide.

Sauvegarde et Exportation de Vos Noms

Une fois que vous avez généré des noms qui vous plaisent, vous disposez de trois façons pratiques de les sauvegarder :

Copy All: Click the "Copy All" button. This copies every generated name to your computer's clipboard, with each name on a new line. You can then paste them into any text editor, word processor, or other application.
Export .txt: Click the "Export .txt" button. This will download a plain text file (generated_names.txt) containing all your names, one per line.
Export .csv: Click the "Export .csv" button. This downloads a Comma Separated Values file (generated_names.csv). This format is ideal if you plan to import the names into a spreadsheet program like Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers. Each name will be in its own row under a "Name" header.

These options appear only after names have been successfully generated.

Tips for Great Names

Start with Presets: If you're unsure where to begin, explore the presets to get a feel for different phonetic styles. You can then customize the pattern that a preset uses.
Iterate: Don't expect the perfect name on the first try. Generate a batch, see what you like or dislike, then tweak your custom pattern and generate again.
Keep it Simple (at first): If you're new to custom patterns, start with short, simple patterns (e.g., sVs, cvcv) and gradually add complexity.
Use Literals Sparingly: Adding fixed text like (stone) or (gard) can be useful, but too much can make names repetitive.
